Students and Faculty Members were well represented in the awards ceremony at the 55th Israeli Annual Conference on Aerospace Sciences (IACAS)

The Israeli Annual Conference on Aerospace Sciences is one of the premier events for the Israeli Aerospace community.  In addition to a full program of engaging talks and keynote presentations, the event sponsors a number of important awards and prizes.  Undergraduate students, graduate students, and faculty members from the Department of Aerospace Engineering were very well represented in the award ceremony. Please find below a list of the award recipients from the department:

Prize in Memory of Dr. Arie Hillel
Ms. Shany Elizur a PhD student, for her research on the topic “Investigation of aluminum-water reaction for hydrogen production and energy storage”, under the guidance of Professor Emeritus Alon Gany.
Mr. Shahar Blass – a master’s degree student, for his research on the topic of “Conditions of boron oxide condensation in a ramjet engine in a fuel gel state”, under the guidance of Professor Benny Natan.
Mr. Niv Bachar – an undergraduate student, for outstanding academic achievements and for his project on ”Health Monitoring Structures in UAVs”, under the guidance of Professor Omri Rand and in cooperation with the Israeli Air force, MOD, and IAI.
Mr. Maxim Frideen – an undergraduate student in his 4th semester, on his outstanding academic achievements.
Ms. Anna Sokolovskia – an undergraduate student that is also in her 4thsemester, on her outstanding academic achievements.

Prize on behalf of Deborah and Professor Emeritus Joseph Shinar
Mr. Ohad Ben-Yaakov – for his research on “Long-term satellite cluster flight using differential drag”, under the guidance of Professor Pini Gurfil.

Prize in memory of Dr. Shlomit Gali was awarded to:

Assistant Advisor:  Itai Orr
Students: Moadav Naor, Yaari Sagiv, Dalali Gal, Habouba Omer, Halachmi Meir, Bilder    Olga, Eisenthal Yaacov, Damkani Moshe, Hayoon Eli, Katz Liat, Kupperman Li-Tal, Nachum Ziv, Ofir Nadav – for their project “Autonomous Unmanned Aerial System Design, Development, Integration and Verification,” performed at the Technion by students from the Departments of Aerospace Engineering and Computer Science

Prize in memory of Niv-Ya Durban
Captain Vadim Baru and Professor Barry Greenberg for the paper:
“Characteristics of an Unconfined Jet Diffusion Flame with a Pulsating Fuel Supply”.

Prize in Memory of Professor Meir Hanin
Dr. Beni Cukurel, a faculty member in the Department of Aerospace Engineering, for his outstanding research in the areas of gas turbines and heat transfer.
Ms. Evgenia (Golda) Kishilev – a doctoral student, for her research on “Investigation of nano-porous silicon-based energetic materials”, under the supervision of Professor Emeritus Alon Gany.
