 ials in engineering applications requiring peak performance and superior r
 eliability is growing rapidly. Failure of these materials is often charact
 erized by the onset and progression of distinct damage mechanisms that int
 eract with each other and yield a complex material behavior during loading
 \, which poses a serious challenge when attempting to numerically simulate
  their behavior.\nDuring this seminar\, the major failure mechanisms of co
 mposites will be described\, followed by a description of the challenges o
 f simulating these failure modes in large scale structures. Efficient cutt
 ing-edge numerical technologies aimed to allow damage propagation simulati
 on in composites will be presented\, followed by static and dynamic exampl
 e problems. The seminar would also describe some of the latest research ac
 tivities performed in Rafael related to this field\, with the clear vision
  of collaborating with the Technion in the exciting field of composite mat
 erials research.
