SUMMARY:Analysis and Design of Microstructures in 3D-Printed Soft Composite
s and its Implementation in Morphing Wing Structures
DESCRIPTION:Lecturer:Dmitry Vladimirsky\n Faculty:Department of Aerospace E
 ngineering\n Institute:Technion – Israel Institute of Technology\n Locat
 ion:Classroom 165\, ground floor\, Library\, Aerospace Eng.\n Zoom: \n Abs
tract: \n Details: \n Rapid development of additive technologies expands n
ew horizons in the field of soft robotic¹ design. These technologies are
new\, which implementations\, in the field of aerospace\, are incompletely
described.\n\nThe presented research intends to show possible application
of 3D-printing technique in morphing wing mechanisms production. Two main
methods of actuating global response of the composites\, with stiff layer
s embedded in the soft matrix\, were considered and developed. The first m
ethod is based on local indention that provides programmed global displace
ment (the results of numerical simulations fit experimental study). A part
of the research included designing several actuators\, would be beneficia
l for this type of shape-changing soft structures. The second method is ba
sed on a single wire actuated structure\, that has a potentially array of
applications due to the structure’s ability to play the role of a counte
r-body\, by storing elastic energy.\n\n___________\n\n¹Subfield of robot
