SUMMARY:Performance Study of Low-Cost Rocket Controlled by Solenoid
DESCRIPTION:Lecturer:Benny Begun\n Faculty:Department of Aerospace Engineer
 ing\n Institute:Technion – Israel Institute of Technology\n Location:Cla
 ssroom 165\, ground floor\, Library\, Aerospace Eng.\n Zoom: \n Abstract:
\n Details: \n Currently\, among aerospace industries\, there is an increa
sing demand for advancements in rocket precision. Although these systems h
ave provided great technological advancement in this arena\, they are acco
mpanied by high costs and complex mechanisms.\nOne of the most common cont
rol systems that are used in ammunition systems is the Servo. Despite its
common usage\, the mechanical complexity and high costs are of disadvantag
e to aerospace industries.\nAs a result of the challenges associated with
the Servo system\, a considerable amount of research has been devoted to o
btaining an alternative solution.\nThe main objective of the current resea
rch is to propose a unique method to control a rocket which will strike th
e balance between precise performances and the cost of the rocket.\nWe wil
l begin the talk with an introduction and an overview of the current state
concerning precise rockets. This will be followed by proposing a new guid
ance law based on Vector Guidance law which leads to more robust rocket pe
rformances while requiring low acceleration commands.\nAlso\, a unique act
uating system driven by solenoids that are controlled by a PWM controller
will be shown.\nFinally\, the complete rocket configuration will be introd
uced. Simulations results will be presented during the talk to exemplify t
 he results
