SUMMARY:Detection of unknown uncertainties in simulation based systems veri
 fication process
DESCRIPTION:Lecturer:Aharon Renick\n Faculty:Department of Aerospace Engine
 ering\n Institute:Technion – Israel Institute of Technology\n Location:C
 lassroom 240\, 1st floor\, Aerospace Eng. building\n Zoom: https://technio
n.zoom.us/j/98372598857\n Abstract: Early detection of simulation inaccura
cies is critical in system development for increasing result certainty\, f
ocusing physical experimentation\, and avoiding incorrect conclusions abou
t system performance. This research develops a quantitative methodology to
detect "unknown uncertainties“ or “unknown unknowns” within system
simulations\, in the presence of "known uncertainties“ or “known unkno
wn”. The work introduces three methods: Uncertainty Level Extrapolation
 and Trend Analysis\, Multi-Scenario Aggregated Normalized Goodness-of-Fit
(GOF)\, and Probability Integral Transform (PIT) Aggregated Moment Matchin
 g. By translating engineering validation processes into statistical infere
nce problems\, these methods utilize statistical tools to identify unmodel
ed discrepancies and structural errors. The methods are described and demo
nstrated across different system architectures\, aimed at offering systems
engineers with tools for verifying simulation accuracy.\n\nThis work is t
owards a Ph.D. degree under the supervision of Prof. Gil Yudilevitch of Ae
rospace Engineering\, Technion\, and Dr. Arkady Lichtsinder\, RAFAEL - Adv
 anced Defense Systems.\n Details: \n
