The research deals with induced – charge electrokinetic interactions between a pair of identical circular cylindrical conducting particles suspended in an unbounded electrolyte solution under the action of a uniform external electric field. Within the framework of the common thin – Debye – layer approximation the electrostatic problem and the resulting electroosmotic flow are analyzed. The non – linearity inherent in this problem results in symmetry breaking of the flow field which therefore cannot be obtained via superposition of the respective cases when the external field is either parallel or perpendicular to the line of centers. Analysis of the relative particle motion is currently underway.
