Research within the department of Aerospace Engineering is led by faculty members whose main interests may be found on their respective websites (see People). Faculty members conduct research with their graduate students, post-doctorate fellows, and research staff of scientists, engineers, and technicians.
Much of the research is supported by research grants from various academic and industry-related sources. Some of the faculty members also serve as the head and principal researcher of a laboratory within the Aerospace Research Center that occupies a complex of buildings adjacent to the main building of the Aerospace Engineering department. The main laboratories are the Aerodynamics (wind tunnels) Laboratory, the Krumbein Structures Laboratory, the Propulsion and Combustion Laboratory, the Turbo and Jet Engine Laboratory, and the Flight Control Laboratory.
In addition, space-related research is conducted at the adjacent Asher Space Research Institute. Some faculty members also conduct joint research with members of other Technion departments or other Israeli and foreign universities, research institutes, and development industry groups.
