Faculty Positions in Aerospace Engineering (all ranks)

The Department of Aerospace Engineering (AE) at the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology invites applications for multiple tenured or tenure-track faculty positions at all ranks (Assistant/Associate/Full Professor)

Technion is Israel’s primary technological university. Its faculty members include three Nobel Laureates, and it is the major factor behind the growth of Israel’s high-tech industry.

Enrolling around 400 undergraduate and 150 graduate students, the AE Department is a world-class academic hub for aeronautics and astronautics, dedicated to the creation, expansion, and dissemination of ideas and knowledge in aerospace sciences and engineering. The AE Department is globally recognized (16th in the world according to the 2021 Shanghai Ranking) and is committed to fostering interdisciplinary research that can address major societal challenges.

We are looking to expand research programs with applications related to autonomous aviation, air traffic management, and future aircraft design, high-efficiency energy systems in propulsion, hypersonic and high-speed air vehicles, underwater vehicles and platforms, and microsatellites and nanosatellites, among others. Based on our developmental vision, we are seeking to hire several faculty members with a strong commitment to excellence and potential for or a record of sustained scientific accomplishments in the disciplinary areas of:

  • Multi-disciplinary Design & Optimization
  • Computational Fluid Dynamics (including reacting flows)
  • Computational Solid Mechanics
  • Structures and Structural Dynamics
  • Manufacturing Technologies
  • Orbital Mechanics and Attitude Dynamics
  • Aerodynamics/Hydrodynamics and Fluid Mechanics (including multiphase flows)
  • Laser Diagnostics for High-speed or Reacting Flows
  • Guidance, Navigation, & Control, and Robotics
Faculty position in the area of guidance, navigation, and control
  • Data sciences, Signal processing, and Machine learning

Based on the developmental vision of the department, it is preferred that the candidates active in the aforementioned scientific disciplines will pursue applications among the following themes: autonomous aviation, air traffic management, and future aircraft design;
microsatellites and nanosatellites; hypersonic and high-speed air vehicles; underwater vehicles and platforms; and high-efficiency energy systems in propulsion.

Successful candidates will receive a competitive start-up budget, recurring allowances (including an annual budget for research salaries and consumables), and state-of-the-art departmental facilities will be made available. We offer a highly vibrant and international research environment. Salaries are internationally competitive.

A review of applications will be ongoing until October 1, 2022. Interested candidates should submit: (1) a cover letter briefly summarizing their scientific background, strengths, and plans, (2) a curriculum vitae including a list of publications, (3) a research statement, (4) a brief teaching statement, and (5) contact details of at least three references.

Applications should be submitted to:
