Air Force engineers from the propulsion branch took part in a brief course at the Turbomachinery and heat transfer laboratory, led by Assoc. Prof. Beni Cukurel. The purpose of the course is improving the theoretical and practical knowledge of jet propulsion engineers.
The training included hands-on experience in a variety of experimental facilities, while using advanced measurement methods, data analysis methods, engineering tools and relevant software.
The course is scheduled to be held on an annual basis and will include specially selected topics from a variety of different areas of expertise, which are relevant to the propulsion branch of the IAF, while meeting the branch needs. Upon completion of the course, the trainees will be able to analyze rotating bodies, understand principles of balance and imbalance, analyze jet engine performance according to measured data and chat an operation line on a compressor map, find safe work regions of rotating systems and to find natural frequencies of components of a jet engine.
