We are thrilled to share that Assoc. Prof. Beni Cukurel has been elected as a Fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) in recognition of his outstanding engineering achievements. This prestigious honor highlights Assoc. Prof. Cukurel’s exceptional contributions to the field of mechanical engineering and brings much pride and acknowledgment to our department. Assoc. Prof. Cukurel’s work deepens our understanding of complex aero-thermal physics in coupled flow solutions, specifically in turbomachinery and high-speed propulsion, and is instrumental in advancing scientific knowledge in these areas.
Assoc. Prof. Cukurel’s extensive research is particularly impactful in applications such as micro-gas turbines for propulsion and power generation. His recent focus areas, including micro-turbomachinery, multi-disciplinary system-level optimization, design for additive manufacturing, unsteady aero-thermal flow interactions, active noise cancellation via thermo-acoustics, combustion of carbon-free sustainable fuels, heat recuperation, and measurement technique development, showcase his dedication to pushing technological and sustainable boundaries.
