We are pleased to announce that Professor Emeritus Dan Givoli has been selected as the 2026 Timoshenko Scholar at Stanford University. At the event, Professor Emeritus Givoli will be hosted at Stanford for a seminar lecture and meetings with faculty members. The selection committee and the Timoshenko Scholar organization are from the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Stanford University, but faculty members from across campus are also invited to the lecture and meetings. Professor Emeritus Givoli’s main areas of research include computational solid mechanics, finite element methods, computational methods for acoustic and elastic waves, combination of analytic and numerical methods, space structures.
The Timoshenko Scholar is a prestigious award presented annually in recognition of outstanding contributions to the field of applied mechanics. The award is named after Stephen Timoshenko, a pioneering mechanical engineer and educator, and honors his significant influence on the field of modern engineering mechanics. The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) established this award in 1957.
