For the eighth time, the Technion’s Aerospace Faculty has hosted a turbomachinery workshop organized by Assoc. Prof. Beni Cukurel. These annual training activities are geared towards creating a platform for world’s leading minds in the field of turbomachinery to come and share their knowledge with students, members of academia and industry. This year, the workshop focused on advanced design and additive manufacturing of turbines for propulsion and power generation.
The workshop hosted four experts from the world’s leading companies and institutions – Ms. Anna Sailor and Mr. Jens Karnapp from EOS, Dr. Ilya Fedorov from Siemens Energy and Prof. Sergio Lavagnoli from VKI, who gave talks on the topics of design and material selection for turbomachinery additive manufacturing, production preparation and quality assurance in laser powder bad fusion, and design, optimization and experimental testing of advanced blade tip designs, respectively.
The workshop was attended by members from branches of MAFAT, Israeli Air Force, Bet Shemesh Engines, Rafael, Israel Aerospace Industries and Technion. Total registration included over 100 participants and significant positive feedback was received from all those who attended the sessions.
