Skydiving From Control Engineering Perspective
It is very interesting to analyze skydiving from a perspective of control engineering. Skydiving includes two stages:
(1). Performing solo and cooperative aerial maneuvers in free-fall by changing the body posture and thus deflecting the surrounding airflow;
(2). Piloting and landing a high-performance RAM Air parachute. In this talk we will explain the challenging aspects of both stages, describe the on-going research and most interesting results, and outline the future research opportunities.
