The Lavi – Its Contribution and Its In Return

You are invited to another lecture as part of the activities of the Israel Society of Aeronautics and Astronautics
The story of the Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) from its establishment as “Bedek Metosim” to the proof of the Israeli ability to initiate, plan, develop, and fly the Lavi, a fighter aircraft considered to be the best of its generation.
Lecturer: Menahem Shmul, fourth-generation in Israel, a fighter pilot in the IAF, who fought in 4 wars, and worked as a test pilot, and later as chief, and director of air operations, at the IAI. Menahem flew the Lavi on its first flights and on most of the approximately 240 flights performed by the 3 Lavi prototypes.
He served for about 10 years as Executive V.P – General Manager of the Military Aircraft Group. He continued to work at the company in other positions until his retirement, about six months ago at the age of 80, after 55 years of working at the company.
