Micro gas turbines generally employ uncooled turbine blades and their thrust is limited by the maximum allowable gas temperature. A miniature cooling scheme embodying effusion cooling may significantly enable higher...
During the design phase of a project, each airborne system is designed and tested in order to demonstrate it can perform under different environmental loads. Acoustic noise is one of...
The commercial aviation industry is motivated to continuously improve landing performance without involving radical changes to aircraft design or operation. In the presence of strong gusts the landing is considered...
High-enthalpy arc-heated supersonic wind tunnels are characterized by test gases that are heated by a high-current electric arc and then expanded and accelerated through a convergent-divergent nozzle. In this work,...
Multirotor UAVs are becoming widespread for both civil and military uses, such as photography, surveillance and payload transportation. A slung load system, in which the payload is connected to several...
The main goals in aircraft design nowadays are noise and emission reduction, together with performance improvement.  These can be achieved straightforwardly with lightweight, large-span configurations. However, light aircraft are inherently...
This talk outlines an effort to understand the impact of inlet isolator physics on the combustion of scramjet engines under actual flight relevant high speed conditions. The objective of the...
