The first attempts to predict aerodynamically-generated sound based on direct solution of Navier-Stokes equations began in early 1990. This relatively new field has now come a long way. n. We present two examples: Reducing UAV Wing Noise: We use a high-order LES code to explore the possibility of using Synthetic Jet Actuators to reduce Noise. The other example is Rocket Lift-off Noise: To enable studying noise generated by realistic geometries, we adopt a Hybrid RANS-LES approach using low-order scheme on non-uniform grid to predict the noise produced by impinging jets representing vertical take-off of aircrafts or Rockets Lifts-off.
