The goal of the project is to develop a terrain following algorithm for maintaining a constant clearance between an aerial vehicle and the ground, even if the latter constantly changes and is not flat. Unlike other solutions to this problem, the proposed solution is based on an array of simple laser range sensors. Using these sensors allows operation in a wide range of weather and lighting conditions, requires a relatively small installation volume and power, and reduces the detectability of the host aircraft.
