The first summer camp for international students, held in collaboration with the Technion International School, has ended. The camp was held this year in two faculties: Biology and Aerospace Engineering. 11students were accepted for the summer camp program at the Faculty of Aeronautics and Space Engineering. The students were from different countries, including England, the USA, Canada, and Brazil.
Six of the faculty’s laboratories hosted the summer program students and let them experience an ongoing research project. The students stayed on campus for about three weeks. In addition to the academic aspect, the summer program students enjoyed a rich social program, which included weekend tours to Jerusalem and Tel Aviv, and meetings with graduate students from the faculty. The program also included a celebratory lunch with the host faculty members, where the students could share their experiences and insights from the summer program period at the laboratories.
According to the students who participated, the experience was empowering and enriching, one that will leave a significant mark. Assoc. Prof. Ian Jacobi and Graduate Studies’ Secretary Ella Kohn produced the Aerospace Engineering part of the summer program.
Many thanks to the laboratories and faculty members who hosted the students:
- The Philadelphia Flight Control Laboratory of Associate Professor Daniel Zelezo
- The Turbomachinery and Heat Transfer Laboratory headed by Associate Professor Beni Cukurel
- Propulsion and Combustion Laboratory headed by Associate Professor Dan Michaels
- Turbulence and Complex Flow Laboratory by Associate Professor Ian Jacobi
- Associate Professor Joseph Lefkovich’s Combustion and Diagnostics Laboratory
- Dr. Vladimir Martinushi’s Astrodynamics Laboratory
Special thanks to the Technion International School and the faculty staff who participated in the production of the summer program, accompanied the research in the laboratories, social activity, and hospitality on the Technion campus and at the faculty.
